Infensa researchers nominated for a national university award
The Universities Australia Shaping Australia Awards recognise the positive impact made by university researchers in shaping the country’s future.
The University of Queensland has nominated a team of Infensa researchers in the Problem Solver category for their work developing new treatments for heart disease and stroke, Australia’s biggest killers.
With a little help from an unexpected ally – the venomous Australian funnel-web spider – our team is hoping to develop the first drug to prevent the life-threatening damage to the heart and brain caused by heart attacks and stroke.
Voting for the People’s Choice Award is now closed. The winners of the Judges’ Award and the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Universities Australia annual gala dinner on February 25.
